Avenging Angels
Spring and Summer 2021

In 2016 and 2017 English language productions were presented at the historically famous Filodrammatici Theatre, located next to La Scala Opera House, in 2018 at the MTM Litta Theatre in Corso Magenta, and in 2019 at the newly renovated and beautiful Gerolamo Theatre in Piazza Beccaria – located just next to the magnificent Cathedral of Milan.
In 2021, to mark the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri, J. Productions organized a 24-hour marathon reading in the English language of the entire Divine Comedy at Cinema La Compagnia in central Florence including a splendid star-studded cast. In 2022 J. Productions presented Dylan Thomas’s Under Milkwood – performed as a one-man show by the acclaimed director and performer Guy Masterson at the Filodrammatici Theatre.
In early 2023 J. Productions presented The Last Cuckoo by Nigel Forde performed as a one-man show by Andrew Harrison and Food for Love, a Valentine’s evening of poetry, music and love songs directed by Justin Butcher. In Summer 2023 J. Productions presented Jan Noble’s lyrical and poetic trans-European Dantesque journey of the soul, Body 115, at the International Roman Theatre Festival in Volterra. In Autumn 2023 J. Productions presented Daniel Zappi’s Shakespeare in Song to the All Saints’ Anglican Church as a Charity project.
In January 2024 J. Productions brought a highly successful combination of Chekhov ‘Shorts’ and Dario Fo satirical comedy One was Nude and one Wore Tails to the Filodrammatici Theatre in Milan directed by Justin Butcher with a cast of 4 British actors and musicians. In February theatre practitioner Illona Linthwaite hosted a Workshop in Milan on British poet, Anna Wickham and writer Cicely Hamilton. In spring 2024 J.Productions toured The Devil’s Passion written and performed by Justin Butcher in seven key towns in Italy. In July J.Productions premiered Cicero – The Last Republican at the International Roman Theatre Festival in Volterra written and directed by Justin Butcher.
In the autumn of 2024 we began a collaboration with fACTORy 32 in Milan bringing two shows, Brilliant Traces and Body 115 to the stage. We also participated in the Viola Festival bringing two shows, Chekhov’s The Bear and Other Comic Tales and Dario Fo’s One Was Nude & One Wore Tails, to London’s Playground Theatre. 2025 saw another collaboration, this time in Rome, with the Off/Off Theatre showcasing The Trials of Oscar Wilde. In February we brought Andrew Harrison’s Beloved Son to Milan and to celebrate International Women’s Day in March we staged a charity performance of A Pageant of Great Women directed by Illona Linthwaite.
